Company Information

Virginia Quilting, Inc. was founded as Northern Virginia Quilting in 1968. The owner of Northern Virginia Quilting semi-retired to South Hill, Virginia in 1974. While visiting a local bank, he mentioned that he was looking for a local person to help him with his business. The person whom he discussed this with was Mary McAden, the wife of Wesley McAden, and Wesley began to work with the company. In 1975, Wesley McAden bought half of Northern Virginia Quilting; the name changed to Virginia Quilting, Inc. and relocated to La Crosse, Virginia. Virginia Quilting, Inc. started with two employees and 2,000 square feet of workroom space, producing quilted bedspreads. Virginia Quilting, Inc. moved to South Hill, Virginia in 1978 as a result of rapid expansion to a space of 22,000 square feet. With this additional space the product line was now expanded to include drapery treatments. The number of employees grew from 2 to 25.

During the 1980's, Virginia Quilting, Inc. added a commercial bedspread and drapery line (1981), an additional building of 9,000 square feet (1983) to accommodate the success of the growing drapery division, and the decision was made to split the custom and commercial work into two separate divisions (1989). The custom division is still operating as Virginia Quilting, Inc. as the commercial division is now operating as VQC, which is located in a 40,000 square foot facility. With the latest expansion the company now has approximately 170 employees.

In more recent years, Virginia Quilting, Inc. moved back to LaCrosse, Virginia into a 70,000 square foot facility in 1992. In 2008, Wesley celebrated over 50 years of experience by opening a Designer's Training Center in LaCrosse, Virginia to train designers on all aspects of the home fashion business, hoping to pass on years of knowledge that can help people prosper in the home fashion trade.

In over 40 years of business, Virginia Quilting, Inc. has expanded from a 2,000 square foot facility to a combined total of over 200,000 square feet and expanding from 2 employees to a combined total of approximately 300 employees.
